These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of Gb Cook County at https://illinois.cook.gidgebot.com (the "Service"). The Service is provided by Gidgebot Limited ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Purpose of the Service

  • 1.1 Gb Cook County is an OpenAI-powered legal research and drafting assistant intended to support pro se litigants and attorneys working on matters involving Cook County and related Illinois practice.
  • 1.2 The Service is software support for research, document drafting, organization, and legal reasoning workflows. It is not a law firm, lawyer referral service, or attorney substitute.
  • 1.3 Use of the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Gidgebot Limited.

2. No Legal Advice or Unauthorized Practice of Law

  • 2.1 The Service does not provide legal advice, legal representation, or court appearance services.
  • 2.2 The Service is not practicing law and is not holding itself out as licensed counsel. You are solely responsible for deciding whether and how to rely on any output.
  • 2.3 If you are a pro se user, you remain responsible for your own filings, deadlines, legal positions, and compliance with all applicable rules.
  • 2.4 If you are an attorney or other licensed professional, you remain responsible for independent professional judgment, supervision, and compliance with your ethical obligations.

3. Accuracy, Review, and Filing Responsibility

  • 3.1 The Service is designed to improve reliability by grounding generations in retrieved source text from curated legal materials and by using strict prompting intended to support accurate research and drafting.
  • 3.2 In practice, the Service may provide highly accurate results, including useful citation and drafting support, but no automated system can guarantee that every output will be complete, current, or correct in every matter.
  • 3.3 You must review and verify output before relying on it, sharing it, or filing it with a court, tribunal, agency, client, or opposing party.
  • 3.4 You remain responsible for confirming deadlines, local rules, formatting rules, service requirements, jurisdiction-specific practice, and consistency with the official record.

4. User Accounts and Eligibility

  • 4.1 You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure.
  • 4.2 You may use the Service only in compliance with applicable law, court rules, protective orders, and professional responsibility obligations.
  • 4.3 You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

5. User Content and Permissions

  • 5.1 You retain ownership of the prompts, filings, messages, and other materials you submit to the Service ("User Content").
  • 5.2 You represent that you have the right to upload, process, and use all User Content you provide through the Service.
  • 5.3 You must not upload material that you are prohibited from disclosing or processing, including sealed records, restricted data, or information subject to court order, unless you have authority to do so.
  • 5.4 You grant us the limited rights needed to host, process, transmit, and display User Content in order to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Service.

6. Acceptable Use

  • 6.1 You may not use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, harassing, abusive, or deceptive conduct.
  • 6.2 You may not use the Service to impersonate a lawyer, misrepresent legal authority, fabricate citations or evidence knowingly, or engage in the unauthorized practice of law.
  • 6.3 You may not interfere with the Service, attempt unauthorized access, or use the Service in a way that could harm other users, courts, or third-party systems.

7. Third-Party Services and AI Processing

  • 7.1 The Service uses third-party providers, including OpenAI and infrastructure vendors, to process requests and generate output.
  • 7.2 We are not responsible for outages, interruptions, or changes caused by third-party providers.
  • 7.3 Third-party services may have their own terms, technical limits, retention practices, or operational constraints.

8. Billing and Paid Usage

  • 8.1 Certain features may require payment, subscription enrollment, or prepaid assistant credits.
  • 8.2 You are responsible for all applicable charges, taxes, payment method accuracy, and authorized use of purchased credits or subscriptions.
  • 8.3 Unless otherwise stated in writing, fees are non-refundable except where required by law.

9. Suspension and Termination

  • 9.1 We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, create legal or security risk, or fail to pay amounts due.
  • 9.2 You may stop using the Service at any time.
  • 9.3 Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including provisions regarding responsibility for output, disclaimers, limits of liability, payment obligations, and dispute terms.

10. Disclaimers

  • 10.1 The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
  • 10.2 To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability.
  • 10.3 We do not warrant that any output is correct, admissible, privileged, court-ready, or suitable for your particular matter.

11. Limitation of Liability

  • 11.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gidgebot Limited and its officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to the Service.
  • 11.2 To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for claims arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
  • 11.3 Nothing in these Terms limits liability to the extent such limitation is prohibited by law.

12. Indemnification

  • 12.1 You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Gidgebot Limited and its affiliates, officers, employees, and contractors from claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising out of your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

13. Governing Law

  • 13.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

14. Changes to These Terms

  • 14.1 We may update these Terms from time to time by posting revised terms through the Service.
  • 14.2 Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
